Optional practical activity

Last year we introduced an optional short practical activity element to the visits. If the host organisation wished to, they could engage their student group in providing some insights and feedback on a particular topic or issue. This proved to be a mutually beneficial activity for both hosts and students.

The visiting student group spend 45 minutes working together to prepare their feedback and 30 minutes presenting their response.

This ‘reverse mentoring’ type exercise can be helpful to host organisations who wish to gain better understanding of how this demographic (new university undergraduate students) views your organisation, communications or specific business issues.

It is also provides our students with an opportunity to practice team working and professional presentation skills.

Examples of potential areas for consideration include:

  • Marketing materials or campaigns that are targeted at their demographic
  • Online Early Careers or Graduate specific information
  • Reviewing written communications with reference to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Alternatively you may have a short activity or case study exercise from your own recruitment processes that would be appropriate to undertake with your student group, to provide them with a practical activity to undertake during their visit.
