Supporting and promoting equality, diversity and inclusion

We encourage the recruiters we work with to improve social mobility and diversity in the workplace through their recruitment strategies.

However, improving diversity and social mobility in an organisation is not an easy task. There is no quick fix; employers should make a long-term commitment to creating a diverse workforce.

MGT recruiter FAQs

Who will I receive applications from?

All applications for MGT roles will be from new University of Manchester graduates - they will be graduating or have graduated during 2023-2024.

Our graduates will have studied on a range of degree programmes including business, management, marketing, politics, history, finance, maths, engineering, physics plus many others.

Our graduates will also have acquired a number of transferrable skills from both their studies, extra curricular activities and their work experience undertaken as a student: research, data and analytical skills, project and task management, creative problem solving, digital skills and social media communications.

Our graduates will also bring with them enthusiasm and a fresh approach, as well as a keen desire to start their career with organisations like yours.

What type of roles do you route through MGT?

The aim is to offer entry level graduate roles, enabling our graduates to start their professional careers in and around Manchester. We can promote any roles which are longer than 4 months, ideally around 12 months+.

They must comply with national minimum wage requirements. We would advise that graduate level roles are salaried at a competitive rate. The MGT team can provide guidance on appropriate salary levels.

How are the MGT vacancies advertised?

If you choose to route a vacancy through MGT, this role will be advertised via our vacancy platform CareerConnect which is accessed exclusively by University of Manchester students and graduates. They will apply directly through CareerConnect using a CV and Covering letter, an application form if required.

We promote MGT roles via our Facebook page, which has around 1.7k members, through a targeted Vacancy bulletin circulated fortnightly and through our social channels.

What if I don’t want to advertise my role exclusively to your students/graduates?

We offer a Track and Promote option. You wouldn’t receive a full recruitment support service but we promote your role through MGT social channels and vacancy bulletin for increased visibility. We follow up to see if you have appointed one of our graduates.
